Effects of Egg Yolk and Coconut Milk-Based Extenders on Chilled and Cryopreserved Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) Semen Qualities in Maiduguri, Nigeria

This study investigated the effects of egg yolk and coconut milk-based extenders on motility morphology chilled post thawed turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) semen in Maiduguri, Nigeria. A total 112 samples were collected from seven matured toms, twice weekly for 2 months using dorso-abdominal massage method. Freshly pooled, divided into three aliquots diluted with modified Ringer’s buffer, extenders, respectively. An aliquot each extended was stored at 37°C 5°C, then evaluated hourly 24 hours. Extended also cryopreserved liquid nitrogen thaw qualities assessed after The progressive spermatozoa maintained 6 hours up to 12 5°C when preserved milk yolk-based extenders. It found that use 1% or improved quality once frozen -196°C. observed extender reduced sperm abnormalities better than extender.
